School Clinic Disclaimer
NorthShore’s school-based health center provides comprehensive preventive and primary healthcare services to students during the school day. If your child isn’t feeling well at school, needs updated immunizations or requires a sports physical before joining the team, they can now see a medical provider without even leaving school grounds. With the help of the school nurse, a Family Nurse Practitioner can diagnose and treat acute illnesses including strep throat, colds, coughs, the flu, ear infections, rashes, and pink eye or provide necessary vaccinations and school physicals required for students to attend school. Limited lab testing is also available.
If a patient needs a prescription, the Nurse Practitioner can electronically prescribe the medication to the nearest NorthShore Pharmacy or participating 340B pharmacy for quick pharmacy service. While the School Clinic is not meant to replace your primary care provider, it offers many advantages such as allowing your child to have a doctor’s visit without leaving school, allowing you as the parent to miss less work to take your child to the doctor, and getting prescriptions sent right to your pharmacy from the clinic.
Written consent signed by parents are required for students before services can be provided by NorthShore Health Center. Services provided at the School Clinic will be billed the same way as a regular doctor visit. If you do not have insurance or if it does
not cover the visit, we will work with the family on a case-by-case basis. No student will be denied services because of the inability to pay.
