Chiropractic care helps with headaches
A headache should never be a normal part of life. Headaches are a symptom and our body’s way of telling us that something is wrong. Symptoms of headaches include nausea, pulsating or unilateral pain, sensitivity to light, and visual disturbances. Tension headaches caused by stress may feel as if the forehead and temples are being squeezed.
Hormones can be the cause of headaches and migraines. Many women suffer from hormonal headaches that may occur during menstruation, pregnancy, menopause or a reaction to certain birth controls. Poor diet, including eating too much sugar or not eating enough, can cause a rapid shift in blood sugar and ultimately lead to headaches, among other symptoms.
A chiropractor can help identify the cause of headaches
Many other stressors, such as dehydration, poor posture due to desk jobs or standing too long, using too many pillows at night, or even looking down while reading, can cause stress to the spine and could potentially cause headaches. Stress of any kind can cause vertebral subluxations or misalignments in the spine. Subluxations prevent the nervous system from working properly and symptoms like headache can occur.
Taking aspirin or other pain relievers may help with the pain, but ultimately, this is a temporary solution and will not fix the root cause of the headaches. A visit with a Chiropractor can help identify the underlying cause of headaches and relieve the pain without the use of drugs by removing vertebral subluxations and the stress on the spine.
