Treatment for Your Individual Needs

According to the National Institute of Drug Abuse, substance abuse is a complex disease that affects brain function and behavior, but the good news is it can be treated with the right treatment plan. No single treatment is right for everyone, so NorthShore providers and counselors will design a treatment plan that meets your individual needs. Through the initial step of intake assessment and evaluation, we measure factors in your life that may influence your behavior, such as life stress, attitude, and emotional stability to create a personalized treatment plan that’s right for you.

Effective treatment plans must address all areas of your needs and not just the substance abuse. Individual counseling will address both the physical and spiritual aspects of abuse and offer treatment plans that address the patient as a whole. Treatment plans may change over time based on your changing needs and progress with recovery.

Counselors will guide patients through the treatment process while also incorporating a creative outlet through art, music, or cooking. NorthShore also has Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)-trained staff to help with trauma or post-traumatic stress disorder. EMDR therapy is an interactive method of using a patient’s own rapid, rhythmic eye movements to help relieve psychological stress.
