Your Quit Journey Starts Today

Support for quitting smoking at NorthShore Health Centers for better health.

Every year, the Great American Smokeout encourages people across the country to take an important step toward a healthier life by quitting smoking, even if it is just for one day. The event, created by the American Cancer Society, reminds us that every attempt to quit is progress and that support is available at every stage of the journey. Learn more about the Great American Smokeout here.

Why Quitting Matters

Smoking remains one of the leading preventable causes of disease and death in the United States. Quitting lowers your risk for:

  • Heart disease and stroke
  • Lung cancer and other cancers
  • High blood pressure
  • Weakened immune system
  • Complications from diabetes
  • Breathing problems and reduced lung function

You Do Not Have to Quit Alone

A successful quit journey often includes support, guidance, and helpful resources. If you are thinking about quitting, wanting to cut back, or need help getting started, now is the perfect time.

Schedule an appointment with one of our providers to discuss strategies and personalized tools that can help you move toward a tobacco-free life. We also offer mental health support to help you manage stress, triggers, and the emotional challenges that come with quitting.

Need Extra Support

For more education, resources, and community support, contact the Tobacco Education & Prevention Coalition for Porter County. They are a great partner for anyone looking to quit or learn more about tobacco-related health.
