Cancer Survivor Month

Cancer Survivor Month

TV-Relay-Team-Blog-1

June is Cancer Survivor Month. According to The American Cancer Society there will be an estimated 1,898,160 cases of cancer in the U.S. during 2021. With a projected statistic of 608,570 deaths occurring in the same year – that means that there are approximately 1,670 deaths EVERY DAY from cancer.

NorthShore is dedicated to the fight against cancer. Our team of providers will make sure you are getting the preventative check-ups needed for your age range, and our team of trained, resourceful, and attentive staff can help by ensuring you know more about nutrition and your overall health. We want to get and keep you healthy!

To be a bigger part of the fight against cancer, NorthShore Health Centers creates a team that raises funds for the local Relay for Life event every year. Relay for Life has been a community event, held in areas across the world, for more than 35 years. While there, participants can remember those who were lost to cancer, honor those who are fighting now, and raise funds that are utilized in their own communities to help those in their fight against cancer.

This year, the theme is Pirates of the Cure-ibbean, and you arrrrrre invited to join us at Willowcreek Middle School in Portage, Indiana on August 6, 2021. If you’d like to join the NorthShore team, we’d love to have you!

The local event staff for the Relay for Life of Porter County will be hosting a free survivor dinner. If you or anyone you know is a cancer survivor, please feel free to reach out to Denise Carpenter via email dcarpenter@northshorehealth.org or by text or phone at: 219-707-9953 and we can ensure you get an invitation.

We want to celebrate the area’s cancer survivors, a community that is dedicated to the fight against cancer, and the healthcare heroes who make sure that we are taken care of every day.

See you there, mateys!
