Austre Medina became a nurse because she wanted to help others. She obtained her associate science of nursing degree (ASN), but I didn’t stop there. Three years later, she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and most recently graduated from IUN with her MSN. During her clinical rotation, Medina was exposed to different clinical settings but found herself most interested in the pediatric population. Pediatrics is more than just a profession to Austre; it is a vocation and a calling. It’s a privilege for her to care for children, advocate for their health, and help shape brighter tomorrows.
Medina and her husband have 8 children: four boys and four girls, and a German Shepherd. Their children keep them active participating in activities like rowing, cross country, track and field, Science Olympiad, piano and basketball. Together, they spend a lot of time outdoors creating memories at the Dunes, bike riding, camping, and fishing.
