Exams to get contact lenses include testing that is not usually done during a regular exam. If you are interested in getting contacts, inform the scheduler when you call to make an appointment. This will ensure that you will be scheduled for the extra time that is needed to perform the testing.

Your provider will ask your different questions about the contact lenses you want, such as if you would prefer daily disposables or overnight wear lenses. After the provider makes a recommendation on the contact lenses, they will take measurements of the eye to ensure the lenses will fit correctly.

After you initially receive your contact lenses, you should schedule an annual eye exam for preventative care. In some cases, your provider might request that you come in for an exam more frequently.
