Electric and Vibration Therapy

Electric Muscle Stimulation is used to help Reduce Swelling

Electric muscle stimulation is used to help reduce swelling in turn reduce chronic pain and also accelerate the healing of tissue that may be damaged or injured. During electric muscle stimulation, your chiropractor or therapist will attach neurostimulation electrodes to the muscle group or area of the body that needs attention. Wires connected to the electrodes run a machine which controls the length of time and intensity of the electric current.

Patients may feel a number of sensations including muscle contracting or twitching, the feeling of pins and needles or a light tingling sensation. Most often, these feelings only last during treatment, however, some patients have experienced them up to 30 minutes after their visit.

Electric and Vibration Therapy

Vibration Therapy

Vibration therapy is when, your chiropractor or therapist has patients stand on a machine with a vibration platform also known as Power Plate Equipment. As the vibrations from the power plate transfer through your body, waves of energy activate muscle contractions between 25 and 50 times per second. Your muscles naturally contract at a similar rate as if you were doing an intense workout and in turn strengthening the muscle.

Benefits of both Electric muscle stimulation and vibration therapy include:

  • Increased muscle strength and flexibility
  • Increased muscle and joint range of motions
  • Increased bone density
  • Reduced swelling, pain and soreness
  • Improved blood circulation
  • Reduce stress
  • Prevents and, in some cases, reverse loss of muscle mass and tissue
