Lake Station – Dr. Fernando Rivera Dental Center
Dr. Fernando Rivera
Dr. Fernando Rivera dedicated over 30 years to serving the Lake Station community, remaining committed even as many providers moved to more affluent areas. His private practice provided care to underserved, uninsured, and underinsured patients in Lake County.
In 2007, Dr. Rivera partnered with NorthShore to expand healthcare access. His office transitioned into a NorthShore facility, followed by the opening of a new 26,000 sq. ft. medical center in 2008, with support from Representative Charlie Brown.
The original building was converted into a dedicated dental clinic named in his honor, recognizing his decades of service. That first year alone, the new facilities saw a 23% increase in patients and a 45% increase in visits. Dr. Rivera’s legacy lives on through continued access to medical, dental, and school-based care in Lake Station.
