Janice Wilson – CEO
Jan Wilson is the founder and has been the CEO of NorthShore Health Centers since 1997. Jan was a school nurse at Portage High School and noticed many parents unable to tend to their sick children because they could not afford to take off time from work. Through Jan’s empathy and determination, what started as a teen clinic over 20 years ago, has grown to a thriving Federally Qualified Health Center employing over 300 health care providers and support staff across nine (9) locations, including two (2) school-based health clinics. Jan attained her Registered Nurse License after graduating with honors with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University Northwest. She received her Masters of Science in Health Care Administration in 2011.
Jan is currently a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, National Council on Behavioral Health in Primary Care, National Association of Community Health Centers, Indiana Primary Health Care Association and previously was a member of the Indiana School Nurse Association. She received the Greater Portage Chamber of Commerce 1997 Outstanding Citizen Award for being the catalyst in starting NorthShore Health Centers’ teen clinic. She was awarded the Indiana Department of Education 1998 School Nurse of the Year and 2002 Indiana School Nurse Administrator of the Year. The Times Newspaper Annual Ten Most Powerful & Influential Women in Porter County named Jan as the 1998 Most Powerful and Influential Woman in Health Care.
